Investigation #2 - Private residence, Gowanda, NY

On our second investigation, STRIPE was asked to investigate a private residence. The homeowner believed her house to be occupied by two spirits, that of a man and a little girl. Investigator Chris brought a stuffed toy to entice the little girl to interact with us. While setting up the camcorder to monitor the toy, these odd cooing sounds were recorded. They were not heard by any of the investigators present, nor were they picked up by a Digital Voice Recorder across the room.
Later Investigator Rose was doing EVP work in the upstairs hallway. One of our objectives for this investigation was to learn the little girl’s name as the children of the house simply called her “Celery.” Rose was tossing out names in hopes of getting a response. Listen closely to the end of the clip. The second clip is the EVP isolated. Several different interpretations have been suggested for this EVP. Feel free to email us with any suggestions of your own.
Towards the end of the investigation, Chris returned to the girls’ bedroom with the eldest daughter, who has just firmly asserted that she has a nightlight not because she’s scared, but to avoid tripping over anything in the dark. Listen closely to the end of the clip after the eldest daughter’s giggle. The second clip is the end of the first clip isolated. The sound is faint and should be listened to through headphones or at a higher volume.
Evidence was also collected on the IR camera we set up in the girls’ bedroom. In the first clip, Lead Investigator Tom places the camcorder on the floor to monitor the toy reindeer. Note the belt hanging on the wall and the timestamp of the clip.
The belt remained in that position for over an hour, during which time two separate teams moved in and out of the room doing EVP work. This next clip was recorded shortly after the nightlight clip while Chris felt a very strong emotional connection with the little girl.
Two days after the investigation, Lead Investigator Tom and Case Manager Lydia returned to the house in an attempt to recreate what happened to the belt. It took a great deal of effort just to get the belt stuck in the molding again and a solid hit on the molding to get the belt to release. Once it did release it swung back and forth a maximum of twenty nine seconds but did not swing nearly as much as it had in the video.
Our conclusion, based on the evidence collected and personal experiences recorded, is that this private residence was haunted. Since STRIPE performed its investigation the homeowner has reported no further paranormal activity. We therefore believe the house to be no longer haunted. It cannot be determined whether or not STRIPE had anything to do with the cessation of paranormal activity in this case but it is our hope that if there were spirits in the house they have moved on.
