STRIPE visited a private residence in Amherst, NY with the intention of conducting a short investigation.  Investigators Ken and Adawna joined Lead Investigator Tom and Case Manager Lydia in what was originally intended to be a brief EVP session on the grounds.  Our referrals member Harriet was also present.  It soon became apparent that a more in-depth investigation is called for as several members picked up impressions in the house.  The homeowner also mentioned additional activity in the house that warrants a full investigation.

STRIPE attended the monthly meeting of the Western New York Unexplained Paranormal Group at the Iron Island Museum.  Members Tom, Lydia and Rose were present, as well as our new Investigator-in-training, Alexandra (Alex).  STRIPE also presented a video compilation of the evidence collected during our first two investigations and scheduled a follow-up investigation of Iron Island for Saturday, September 20th.

STRIPE has received its first referral and request for assistance.  A coworker of the client whose home was the site of STRIPE’S 2nd investigation has contacted us and requested an investigation in her home.  The time and date of the investigation is still pending but we expect to have the details worked out shortly.

STRIPE conducted an investigation at the Iron Island Museum in the Lovejoy section of Buffalo, NY.  Six members participated in the investigation.  Several members had personal experiences during the four hour investigation and two new pieces of equipment, a portable infrared camera and mini Digital Video Recorder were tested in the field for the first time.  STRIPE is currently reviewing the evidence collected and will soon list the results.

STRIPE Lead Investigator Tom and Case Manager Lydia made a preliminary visit to a private residence in Amherst, NY to discuss the possibility of conducting an investigation there.  Please check our investigations page for more info on this case as it becomes available.

Three members of STRIPE, Lead Investigator Tom, Case Manager Lydia and Investigator Rose attended the August 1st meeting of the  Western New York Unexplained Paranormal group at the Iron Island Museum.  STRIPE will conduct an investigation of the museum on August 16th.  Among the topics discussed were upcoming investigations of the USS The Sullivans at the Buffalo Naval Park and Old Fort Niagara.  We at STRIPE would like to express our appreciation to the Western New York Unexplained Paranormal group for an extremely interesting and informative meeting and our anticipation of working with WNYUP in the future.

July 26, 2008

Lead Investigator Tom, Case Manager Lydia and Investigator Rose journeyed to Lily Dale, NY to attend a presentation given by Jason Hawes and Grant Wilson of  The Atlantic Paranormal Society,  also known as TAPS.  At the meet and greet after the presentation STRIPE presented TAPS with a DVD of the evidence STRIPE collected during its first two investigations.  The presentation itself was excellent, both informative and amusing.  The most important message TAPS conveyed during the presentation was something we should all remember when investigating the paranormal:  HAVE FUN!

November - December 2008

November will be a busy month for STRIPE.  We were asked to investigate a private residence here in Gowanda by a local resident who feels uncomfortable about a certain room in her apartment.  STRIPE will conduct this investigation on November 15th.

Our last local investigation, conducted on September 13th,  produced no hard evidence but did result in a satisfactory result for our client.  A bout with the flu kept our Lead Investigator from participating but the other members of STRIPE rose to the challenge and conducted the investigation without him.  Since STRIPE’s investigation the homeowner has reported that paranormal activity in the house has ceased.

Investigator-in-training Alexandra (Alex) continues to show remarkable progress.  We expect Alex to become a full-fledged member of STRIPE sometime next year.  STRIPE is also currently assessing the potential of two new prospective members.  Pending approval of the current members of STRIPE, invitations may soon be extended for these two individuals to begin training.  The updating of our contacts page is also a high priority.  Pics and profiles of the current members of STRIPE and our trainees should be up by the end of the year, even if the Lead Investigator has to lean on a few members.  Keep checking back and one day they’ll be up, by hook or by crook.

We at STRIPE are very excited to be conducting an overnight investigation at the Buffalo Naval Park on the night of November 22nd.  The USS The Sullivans, a WWII era destroyer, has long been reputed to be haunted.  STRIPE hopes to collect hard evidence of this.  Our investigation will encompass both the destroyer and the USS Little Rock, a guided missile cruiser moored next to it.  STRIPE would again like to extend our thanks to the Western New York Unexplained Paranormal group for providing us with a contact at the Buffalo Naval Park.

While gathering preliminary information for our upcoming local investigation (November 15th) we met a co-worker of this client who feels uncomfortable in her place of business.  Details are now being worked out for STRIPE’s first-ever investigation of a business, located right here in downtown Gowanda.  More details will be reported as they develop.  STRIPE plans to take a holiday from investigating in December, as the analysis of evidence is proving to be a more daunting task than first anticipated.

Analysis of the raw data obtained from STRIPE’s second investigation of the Iron Island Museum continues and it can be reported now that we got more results than we did during our first investigation there on August 16th.  We hope to complete our meticulous analysis shortly and post our findings here after transferring the video and audio samples to the computer.  They can then be uploaded to this website.  STRIPE hopes to add more members in the future to help with the analysis of evidence.  This should expedite the process and get our evidence on the website faster.

Summer 2009

It’s been a slow summer as far as investigations go.  I’m aware that the links to our evidence are no longer working (like the links on the bottom of this page - please just hit the “back” button on your browser) and am working on a solution to this problem.  The recent flooding in Gowanda has left STRIPE headquarters a little waterlogged but we’re well on the way to getting everything shipshape again.  STRIPE headquarters came through the flood with very little damage and we’re extremely thankful for that.  We’d like to extend our profound thanks to everyone who lent us a hand and expressed well wishes and concern for us.  In the end it all comes down to friends and loved ones.  We’ve been incredibly blessed with both.

We just added a new wireless audio system to our arsenal of equipment.  After careful research and the purchase of a wireless camera system that failed to deliver on the audio we’ve purchased an Audio-Technica ATW-3131a system that features a lavalier microphone and a 300’ radius of operation.  Our first test of this system worked perfectly.  We hope to deploy it in the field for the first time on September 5th, when we return to the Buffalo Naval Park to investigate the USS Little Rock.

Our very first Investigator-in-training, Alexandra (Alex) recently took a job out of state and moved west.  We’re very sorry to see Alex go as she was to be promoted to Investigator after the Valentown Museum investigation.  We are happy for her and glad that she’s doing well in her new job.  As fortune would have it, Alex is coming back to visit over the Labor Day weekend and will be joining us for the Naval Park investigation.  Alex remains a full member of STRIPE and may participate in any investigation her schedule permits her to attend.

Speaking of promotions, due to the size of the upcoming Naval Park investigation, our Spokesperson and Investigator Rose has accepted the position of 2nd Lead Investigator.  Rose is an original founding member of STRIPE and has been indispensable to its continued growth.  Rose’s promotion will help us in the immediate future and with the major investigation STRIPE will conduct next August.  Our Case Manager/Historian Lydia will also begin training to be an Investigator on the Naval Park investigation.  We also welcome Investigator-in-training Beth to the group and are hoping to add a couple more trainees before the end of the year.  In the coming months we hope to investigate a private residence in East Otto, a restaurant near the Pennsylvania state line, and an inn in Salamanca.  On a personal level, I hope to get the evidence embedded in the summary pages and be more conscientious about upgrading the web site.
